Register as New Patient
Everyone should be registered with a GP practice. If you are new to the area you should register with a local GP as soon as possible.
Ask at the reception desk of the GP practice for a registration form. You must also bring some form of personal ID e.g. passport, driving licence and proof of residency e.g. recent household utility bill. (Due to covid, we currently do not need to see proof of ID)

If you wish to change your GP practice you can apply as above, or you can email nss.psdenquiries-general@nhs.scot for advise.
If you have been removed from a GP's list, and cannot get another doctor to accept you, please email nss.psdenquiries-general@nhs.scot or your current practice can do this on your behalf.
Temporary residents may access GP services. If you are staying with a family who are registered, you may be able to attend their GP practice.
People who are homeless may access local GP services. Alternatively GP, nursing and mental health services are available at TAP (The Access Point), 17 Leith Street, Edinburgh and at the Cowgate Clinic, 20 Cowgate, Edinburgh. Advice regarding housing and social work services are also available at TAP.
Temporary Patient Registrations
If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.
You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.
To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

The health centre is fully accessible to disabled people. We have two disabled parking spaces in the staff car park next to the back door of the health centre (at the end of Imrie Place). You don’t need a disabled badge to use these if you are unwell but please use them only if you genuinely need to.
If you have problems with access, please let the practice manager know.
If you don’t have mobility problems please use local car parking to the south and west of the health centre
